Vanessa Lynn Williams is an American singer, actress and ex-model. She became the first African-American woman to be crowned Miss America in 1983. Thereafter, Vanessa Williams made her mark as a model, singer, songwriter and actor. Though Miss America title helped kick-start her career, the journey did not come in easy as she became the victim of death threats and hate mails. Eventually, she had to relinquish her title to dodge the threats. After her modelling career, Williams tried her hand at singing and came up with her debut album which became a phenomenal success. It led to the release of eight more studio albums, each of which was highly successful.
