Personal Fact of Sarah Silverman | |
It wouldn’t be wrong to tag Sarah Silverman as the controversial comedy queen. Known for her sassy remarks and tongue-in-cheek humor, she rose to prominence for her satirical comedy and stress on social taboos and controversial topics including those of racism, sexism and religion. Interestingly, she developed a passion for comedy since a very young age. Before even getting into her teens, she started performing at local clubs and community theatres. Eventually, she dropped out of the New York University to pursue a full-time career in comedy. Though she gained a major break after she was roped in as a writer and performer at Saturday Night Live, this proved to be a dismissal start as she was oust after first season. Furthermore, her jokes lasted only but till dress rehearsal. The disappointing start did dishearten this young and talented comedienne but not for long as she made a comeback with HBO sketch comedy Mr Show, featuring Bob Odenkirk and David Cross. Since then, she was cast in a variety of television shows. She was featured even in a variety of films for which she donned comic and serious roles. She jumped to fame with her controversial statements and performances on her one-woman show, Jesus is Magic. In 2005, a film version of the same was released that highlighted her one-woman comedy show. Two years later, she was seen in the flagship program, The Sarah Silverman Show which ran until 2010 on Comedy Central. The show became one of the most popular series for its politically incorrect humor. |
