Robert Rossen was an American film director, screenwriter and film producer. His film, ‘All the King’s Men’ won an Oscar for Best Picture and he was nominated for ‘Best Director for the same film. He was the writer of many strong and remarkable scripts which portrayed how individuals kept on battling the system and were ultimately destroyed by it. In a way it was his own story about how he had to fight his way to the top and how he got corrupted by an unethical system. Sometimes his idealistic ideas portrayed in the films bordered on naivet, but his handling of most the films were simply superb. His last film was a pointer to the decay of values in the society. His later films were more realistic than idealistic. He could not finish his last project because of his sudden death. His last film was about the social and psychological problems that affected a group of people living in the Cape Kennedy area. |
