Mark Raymond Kennedy is an American businessman and politician. He began his career as a Certified Public Accountant and went on to receive his M.B.A. from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. His business career prior to the U.S. Congress included working for The Pillsbury Company and the Federated Department Stores, the world’s leading department store. He was a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives. He represented Minnesota’s 2nd congressional district during the 107th Congress and Minnesota’s 6th congressional district during the 108th and 109th Congresses. Despite predictions by experts that he wouldn’t win, he did it the old-fashioned way: shaking hands, walking in parades, and listening all across Minnesota. He supported the War in Iraq and was a proponent of free trade. He supported the Bush tax cuts, voted for the Medicare Prescription Drug Plan and was the deciding vote on the Deficit Reduction Act. He vacated his congressional seat to conduct his unsuccessful campaign to represent Minnesota in the United States Senate. Kennedy is currently the director of the George Washington University Graduate School of Political Management. |
