Even before his career began, Jason Schwartzman had to face the herculean task of getting out of his family’s shadow which he accomplished quite admirably. His family’s history obviously influenced him as he formed a band at the age of fourteen and bagged his first movie role at eighteen. His debut in the film Rushmore was extremely convincing and he essayed a complex role with ease.

The next few years saw him more aligned to his music projects, with only a handful of acting appearances. But as his acting skills garnered attention, he began getting better offers which led to a change in his approach, as he quit the band to make acting his priority.

Over the next few years, he was cast many times in substantial roles as a part of an ensemble cast, as well as in supporting roles. He continued his music passions, releasing two solo albums, from which some of the songs have featured in TV shows. He showed his versatility by acting in some TV shows too, most notably in Bored to Death.
