Helen Herron “Nellie” Taft was the wife of William Howard Taft, the 27th President of the United States of America. She was an ambitious woman of high intellect and great conviction. She encouraged her husband’s political career even though he preferred a career in judiciary. She welcomed each progression in her husband’s political career. Her political and social connections played a major role in winning the requisite support for her husband’s candidature. She was the first wife of a President to accompany the President on the Inaugural Day ride.
