Ed O’Neill is an American actor who has several laudable performances in movies, theatre and television to his credit. He is best known for his role as Al Bundy in the television sitcom Married with Children and as Jay Pritchett in the television series Modern Family. Being an accomplished athlete in school, he initially had an ambition to play for the National Football League. However, after his rejection from the football team Pittsburgh Steelers, he got back into academics and at the time realized his passion for acting. Though initially he had to do several odd jobs for managing daily expenses, he attended theatre school and studied acting diligently. He started his career in acting through theatre and commercials, later earning roles in television series and feature films. His performances have earned him multiple awards and nominations including Primetime Emmy Award nominations. He is also a three-time winner of the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Ed O’Neill has trained in the Brazilian martial art Jiu-Jitsu for 22 years and he considers his martial art black belt as the greatest achievement of his life, apart from his children. |
