David Duke is an American politician and supporter of white supremacy. When he was still in his teens, he met white supremacist National Alliance leader, William Pierce. He joined the Ku Klux Klan when he was seventeen. Duke enrolled at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. There, he formed a white student group called the White Youth Alliance, and became notorious for holding parties on Adolf Hitler’s birth anniversary.

He appeared at Tulane University wearing Nazi uniform to protest William Kunstler’s visit. He founded the Louisiana-based Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, and became its Grand Wizard. After some violent Klan incidents, he left the Klan, and formed the National Association for the Advancement of White People to end discrimination against white people.

He began his political stint as a Democrat. Later, he changed his political affiliation, and moved to the Republican Party. He has contested for the Senate, ran for governorship of Louisiana, and for the Republican Party presidential candidate nomination. He served as the Louisiana House of Representatives. He has authored his autobiography My Awakening: A Path to Racial Understanding and the book Jewish Supremacism: My Awakening on the Jewish Question.
