Personal Fact of  Corinne Griffith

Popularly known as the Orchid Lady of the Screen, Corinne Griffith was a noted American actress of the 1920s who was known for her spellbinding beauty and inherent talent. She was widely considered the most beautiful actress of the silent era, recognized for her exceptional grace and charm. Griffith’s career in films started in 1916 when she was signed by Vitagraph studios. Her acting skills soon gained her leading roles in big films with established star cast. Griffith’s best bit came during the decade of 1920s when she starred in several super hit flicks including Black Oxen and.

She ended the decade on a high note with the super successful film, The Divine Lady. The film was widely appreciated and also earned her an Academy Award nomination. Griffith’s success in silent films, however, did not extend to the talkies. She was widely panned for her voice which sounded as if she spoke through her nose.

Furthermore, her old-school acting style that was deeply rooted to the pre-sound days made it worse for Griffith to make a comeback. As such, she retired from acting in 1930s. Following her acting career, she made a foray into writing, publishing eleven books between 1947 and 1973. She was also an astute businesswoman who amassed a lot of wealth through real estate holdings. She died as one of the wealthiest women in the world.
