Chad Michael Murray was still in his teens when he started modeling. He then began to focus on an acting career. He started on television doing minor guest roles in serials such as Diagnosis: Murder and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

The actor was cast as Tristan DuGrey in the first two seasons of the comedy Gilmore Girls. Soon after, he was cast as Lucas Scott, a reserved teenager, in the serial One Tree Hill; he worked in the serial for 6 seasons. He could relate well with Lucas Scott, for like the character, he too suffered abandonment by his mother while he was young.

He also had important roles in a series of commercially successful feature films such as Freaky Friday, A Cinderella Story’ and House of Wax. He received many Teen Choice awards and nomination for One Tree Hill, A Cinderella Story’ and House of Wax. He had by now created a niche for himself as an actor who did teenage roles. He is now seen to be making attempts to shake out of the mold.
