Audre Lorde was a famous Caribbean-American writer, poet and activist, mostly remembered for being a great warrior poet who bravely fought several personal and political battles with her words. Audre dedicated both her life and her creative talent to address and fight the injustices of racism, sexism, and homophobia. She also wrote about her battle with cancer in her critically acclaimed book, Cancer Journals. She further wrote her experiences in her book, A Burst of Light (1988) for which she won the National Book Award. Her other important works included The Black Unicorn, The First Cities, Cables to Rage, From a Land Where Other People Live and Coal. |
