David Wayne Spade is an American actor, comedian, and television personality. He became popular in the 1990s as a cast member on Saturday Night Live in which he created character sketches, parodied celebrities and movie-stars and contributed material for Dana Carvey to perform. During this stint on the SNL, he became a close friend of Chris Farley and acted in a couple of commercially successful films with him. Next, he played the central character in movies, which however was not successful. Then the sitcom Just Shoot Me happened which ran for seven seasons and his portrayal of Finch earned him Golden Globe nominations. He went on to host award shows and also lent his voice to several animation characters. He was also part of the cast of Eight Simple Rules and Rules of Engagement. He hosted this own show on Comedy Central called, The Showbiz Show with David Spade, which was designed o be similar to his Hollywood Minute” segment on SNL. His nasal high pitched voice and his use of cutting and sarcastic one liners and his sometimes childish stage personality have become his trademarks. |
